Budapest Family Trip
Budapest is a city full of history and culture with some superb places for families to explore. There’s a lot to see and do here from visiting the old city to enjoying a sail down the River Danube. Wherever you go on a family trip in Budapest you’ll have fun getting to know this enigmatic city.
One of the best places to start exploring Budapest is at the Fisherman’s Bastion. This is the old part of the city named Buda and gives some beautiful views across the Danube. You can also visit St Matthias Church nearby which is beautiful. Other key attractions are the Chain Bridge and the Parliament Building as well as the Royal Palace area. Take a boat ride down the River Danube to get a view of the city from the water. Families visiting Budapest can also spend time in Budapest Zoo which kids will love. For those with a sense of adventure spend time in some of Budapest’s thermal baths. Some have outdoor pools which are fun even in winter. Renting bicycles is popular in Budapest and you’ll be able to explore some of the parks on two wheels. Just outside the city visitors to Budapest can spend a day in the Puszta and watch the Hungarian horsemen ride in their iconic way. Budapest has some great restaurants and cafes and one of the great traditions here is coffee and cake which anyone with a sweet tooth will enjoy. Don’t forget to visit the markets where colourful paprika is on display and to take a look at the arts and crafts. Budapest has lots of interesting museums too which tell the history of Hungary from ancient to more recent times.
